Michael completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating with honours in 2007. After finishing the Australian Orthopaedic Association training program in 2017, Michael was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Michael has undertaken further sub-specialty training in upper limb surgery. He gained experience treating shoulder and elbow conditions in professional athletes including AFL players during a fellowship with A/Prof Gregory Hoy and A/Prof Eugene Ek at Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Victoria. He then completed the Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, specialising in upper limb and hand surgery, including microsurgery.
